Job Objective:
Provide technical leadership for the production unit including: technical effectiveness targets, maintaining the technical work. Productivity Improvement plan for the unit, and helping to set and support the
tracking of annual goals for the unit.
Essential Functions:
- Manage long term optimization in a production unit including: identification of cost/rate/process capability improvements; developing plans to eliminate pervasive or systemic performance problems;
benchmarking against other production units; and innovate improvements to process, controls, or equipment maintenance.
- Provide technical assurance leadership for the production unit including: reviewing Management of Change proposals; assuring compliance with safety device requirements; ensuring that technical skill levels are adequate within the unit support staff; participate in safety & operability reviews for capital projects for their unit; and assuring that product quality issues are adequately addressed.
- Coordinate the solving of complex problems that are beyond the capabilities of the support staff for the plant. These problems could be related to process, mechanical, control systems, pressure equipment
integrity, or other disciplines.
- Act as interface between the production unit and external functions including customers, sales & marketing, R&D, and the central technical
support group.
Education / Qualifications:
- Four year BS degree or higher in chemical engineering
- 5-15 years experience in process engineering or production
engineering
- Team leadership skills
- Project management skills
- Manufacturing experience in an OSHA 1910.119 PSM facility (large
quantities of flammable or highly hazardous chemicals)
- Leadership in developing and executing reliability\capacity
improvement program
- Project concept, premise, and economic justification development
experience
- Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience would be
advantageous.
